Danny Moore | President
Danny Moore is a senior from Ashburn, VA majoring in Energy Business and Finance with a minor in Economics. He has always had a specific interest in the energy sector and trading, and is excited to continue learning as much as possible through leading PSEMA this school year. He has worked for his family’s commercial construction company in management for the past 4 years, but hopes to transition and earn a position in the energy sector after graduation. In his free time he tries to satisfy his golf addiction as much as possible.
Michael Kaloz | Vice President
Michael Kaloz is currently a senior majoring in Energy Business and Finance with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Michael had to opportunity to further his knowledge on natural gas extraction with an interview and tour of Allied Horizontal Wireline at one of its facilities in Irwin, Pennsylvania. Allied-Horizontal Wireline Services, LLC provides logging and perforating services to the oil and gas basins. Michael believes the Penn State Energy Marketing Association is a great opportunity to gain knowledge on the midstream and downstream aspects of the natural gas and crude industries. Commodity trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange is something particular interest to Michael. Aside from Energy, Michael has a strong interest in Law and is also the Vice- President of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. In his free time he likes to fish for walleye and musky.
Mike Magyar | Treasurer
Mike Magyar is a senior majoring in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering with a minor in Energy Business and Finance. Mike grew up in Zanesville, Ohio and later moved to Washington, PA during his high school years. While attending high school in the heart of the US Shale Boom, Mike developed an interest in the upstream petroleum industry. Mike spent his summer working in Philadelphia as an intern at Duff & Phelps where he worked with liquefaction, pipeline and solar projects. Mike enjoys participating in the Penn State Energy Marketing Association because he enjoys learning about the dynamics associated with downstream commodity markets and the networking opportunities he has had through the PSEMA.
James Obermyer | Secretary
Majoring in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering with a minor in Energy Business and Finance, James was part of the association since the beginning for it’s great opportunities to merge technical majors to the non-technical aspect of the energy industry. Originally from Port Huron, Michigan, he enjoys being outdoors and on the water in his free time. During this past summer he had the opportunity to intern with MTU, a subsidiary of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, being responsible for sales logistics, order management, and EPA compliance; he hopes the skills he has learned will help the improvement of PSEMA. As secretary for the 2016-2017 school year, James hopes to keep the association’s members very organized, as well as publishing our newsletters on predetermined deadlines. Another aspiration is to keep our sponsors updated on what we’re working on and provide transparency to the organization.
Mark Capo | Director of Natural Gas
Born and raised in the Greater Pittsburgh Area, Mark has watched the oil and gas industry emerge before his eyes. The growth and potential of the industry persuaded him to pursue a career in it. He enrolled at Penn State University to study Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering. Following his Sophomore year, his passion for the industry was discovered through a new perspective. Following the commodity prices, analyzing what influenced price changes, and how companies were affected by these events became his new passion. He joined the Penn State Energy Marketing Association at the start of his Junior year to further his involvement in the energy industry. Simultaneously, he joined Gutenberg Research to construct financial models and develop his knowledge and intuition for the stock market. Mark was elected as the Director of Natural Gas in the Spring of 2016 for the Penn State Energy Marketing Association. He looks forward to leading a team of students to construct the most accurate natural gas price forecast possible using industry research and analytical skills. In his free time, he enjoys exercising, snowboarding, and reading.
Samuel Jackson | Director of Weather
Sam is a senior from Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, majoring in Energy Business and Finance. He has been a member of PSEMA since its inception and believes it is a great way to stay current with energy trends and bridge a gap between engineering and business majors. Sam recently returned from a semester abroad in Flore! nce, Italy where he had the opportunity to study in one of the World’s most historic cities while also traveling throughout Europe. In relation to the energy industry Sam is interested in Commodity trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, as well as the progression of renewable energy resources. As Director of Weather he hopes to educate himself and others on affects weather patterns have on commodity demand and pricing.
Christopher Konzel | Director of Economy
Hailing from the gem city of Erie, PA, Christopher Konzel is a current senior pursuing a degree in Energy Business and Finance with a minor in Economics at The Pennsylvania State University. He has previously completed a summer Internship with ArgoTurbo Corporation, working in the Nuclear division as a Nuclear Inventory Management Systems (N.I.M.S) analyst which deepened his interest in supply chain logistics management and electricity markets. Additionally, he has interned with State Farm Insurance where his focus was on insurance markets. His experiences both in and out of university inspired him to join the Penn State Energy Marketing Association to meet other individuals who share a mutual interest for the energy industry. Outside of academics, he is active in his chapter of the professional business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi, pursues a passion for understanding the latest marketing trends, and can be seen out on the nearest golf course when the weather is nice.
Adam Larson | Webmaster
Born and raised just 20 minutes south of Pittsburgh, Adam is currently a junior in Penn State’s Petroleum Engineering program. Interning with Chesapeake Energy as a Field Engineer in summer 2015, Adam spent his time in the eastern Ohio Utica Shale completing a full rotation in drilling, completions, construction and facilities, and production. In summer of 2016, Adam interned with EQT in Waynesburg, PA focusing on Production Operations. Also, he joined PSEMA to merge his technical skills with non-technical, business ideas. This is Adam’s second year as PSEMA Webmaster. Adam is also the President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and Founder of Positive Energy. Adam enjoys spending his free time outside.
